How to change Huawei router password step by step

1. Connect your phone and open a browser

   Connect your phone to the Huawei router WiFi, then open a mobile browser such as Chrome or Safari. A computer browser works the same way.

2. Enter the router IP address

   Type the router IP in the address bar and go to it. The default for many Huawei EchoLife routers is 192.168.100.1. You should see the Huawei router login page.

3. Log in to the router

   Enter root as the account and admin as the password, then log in to reach the router configuration page. These are commonly reported defaults; use the details on the router sticker or from your ISP if they differ.

4. Open the WLAN settings

   Click WLAN to reach the WiFi settings.

5. Change the WiFi name (optional)

   Edit the SSID name field to change the name people see when they search for WiFi.

6. Change the WiFi password

   Enter the new password in the WPA PreShared Key field. This is the WiFi password your devices will use.

   Choose a strong, unique password of 12 or more characters and store it somewhere safe.

7. Hide the WiFi name (optional)

   To hide the network, uncheck Broadcast SSID. Devices will then need the network name typed in manually to connect.

8. Save the changes and reconnect

   Save or apply the changes using the button on the page (its label depends on the firmware). Then forget the old network on your devices, reconnect and enter the new password.
