D-Link Router Default Password and Login (192.168.0.1)

D-Link routers are easy to set up, but many people forget the admin login later. This guide covers the D-Link login address, the default username and password, how to factory reset the router, and how to change the Wi-Fi password.

Quick answer: D-Link default login

ItemDefault
Login address192.168.0.1 or http://dlinkrouter.local
Usernameadmin
PasswordBlank (leave the password field empty)
After a factory resetSame: admin with a blank password

Newer models may print a setup password on the label or ask you to create one during first setup, so check the sticker on your router. If someone changed the password and you don’t know it, you will need to reset the router.

How to log in to a D-Link router

  1. Connect your phone or computer to the router by Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open a browser and enter 192.168.0.1 or http://dlinkrouter.local in the address bar. See the router login guide if the page doesn’t open.
  3. Enter the username admin and leave the password blank, unless you set one.
  4. Click Log In.

If the login page won’t open

  • Make sure you are connected to the D-Link router and not to mobile data.
  • Type the address in the address bar, not the search box.
  • Try another browser or a different device, and use an Ethernet cable if you can.
  • If you changed the router’s IP address earlier, use that address instead.

How to factory reset a D-Link router

  1. Keep the router powered on.
  2. Insert a paper clip into the small Reset hole on the back or bottom.
  3. Hold it for 10 seconds, then release.
  4. The lights flash and the router reboots. Allow up to a minute.

D-Link warns that holding the button for much longer than 10 seconds can put some routers into recovery mode. If that happens, unplug the power for 30 seconds and try again.

Warning: a reset erases all settings, including your internet login and Wi-Fi setup. If your internet uses PPPoE, note your ISP username and password first, because you will have to enter them again. For other brands see how to reset a router to factory default.

How to change the D-Link Wi-Fi password

  1. Go to http://dlinkrouter.local or 192.168.0.1 and log in.
  2. Open the menus and find Wireless Settings.
  3. Enter the new password for each band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
  4. Click Save. Devices on that network will need the new password.

Menu names vary between models and firmware. After changing it, check who is connected with this guide to seeing who is connected to your WiFi.

Security tips

  • Set an admin password. A blank password lets anyone on your network open the settings.
  • Use WPA2 or better for Wi-Fi with at least 12 characters.
  • Keep the firmware updated and turn off remote management if you don’t use it.

Using a D-Link behind an ISP router

If your ISP gave you an ONT, the ONT has its own login. See how an ISP network works from OLT to home, or the guides for TP-Link, Nokia, ZTE and FiberHome.
