Nokia G-140W-C Default Password and Login (192.168.1.1)
The Nokia G-140W-C is a common GPON ONT that many ISPs hand out with fiber broadband. This guide covers the login address, the default username and password, what to do when they don’t work, and how to reset the device or change the Wi-Fi password.
Quick answer: Nokia G-140W-C default login
| Item | Common default |
|---|---|
| Login IP | 192.168.1.1 (some firmware uses 192.168.1.254) |
| Username | admin |
| Password | admin, or the unique password printed on the sticker label |
| Where to check | Label on the back or bottom of the ONT |
These are common factory values. Your ISP can change them in the firmware, so the sticker on your own device is always the most reliable source.
How to log in
- Connect your phone or laptop to the ONT by Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
- Open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.1. If that page doesn’t load, try http://192.168.1.254. See the 192.168.1.1 login guide if the page won’t open.
- Enter the username admin and the password from the sticker label (or admin if no password is printed).
- Change the password right after your first login.
If the login doesn’t work
- Check the sticker again. Many newer units have a unique password, not a shared one.
- Your ISP may have changed the admin password during installation. Ask your ISP support for the credentials.
- Some ISPs lock the full admin menu and give customers only a limited account. That is an ISP policy, not a fault.
- Make sure you are typing the IP in the address bar, not in a search box.
I don’t list ISP-specific superadmin passwords. They differ between providers and belong to your ISP, so ask them directly.
How to reset the Nokia G-140W-C
Press and hold the small RESET button for 10 seconds or more with a pin while the device is powered on, then release it. The ONT restarts and returns to factory settings.
Warning: on an ISP-provisioned ONT, a reset can remove the settings your ISP pushed to it (PPPoE or service configuration). Internet may stop working until the ISP re-provisions it. Call your ISP before resetting. For general router resets, see how to reset a router to factory default.
How to change the Wi-Fi password
Log in, open the WLAN or Wi-Fi settings, choose the SSID, set the security mode to WPA2 (or WPA2/WPA3 if offered), enter a new password of at least 12 characters and save. The exact menu names differ between firmware versions. For a step-by-step walkthrough, read Change Nokia Router WiFi Password.
After changing it, you can check connected devices with this guide to seeing who is connected to your WiFi.
What the LEDs mean
A solid red LOS light means the ONT receives no optical signal. Check that the fiber cable is seated and not bent sharply, and contact your ISP if it stays red. It is a line problem, not a password problem.
Security tips
- Change the default admin password so nobody on your network can open the settings.
- Use a strong Wi-Fi password with WPA2 or better.
- Turn off remote management if you don’t need it.
- Keep the label photo somewhere safe before you throw away the box.
Where the ONT fits in the ISP network
The ONT is the customer end of a GPON link that connects back to the OLT in the ISP’s office. If you want to see the whole path, read how an ISP network works from OLT to home. ZTE users can see the ZTE F670L default password guide.

192.168.1.1, and on some firmware 192.168.1.254.
