What is different between the iPhone 13 and the 13 mini?

Apple’s autumn presentation is over; we saw the long-awaited iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. Judging by the feedback from our readers, this is not quite what everyone expected to see. In any case, the iPhone 13 mini has become much better than its predecessor. However, the new iPhone models have received some nice updates. I propose to fix them by comparing them with last year’s devices.

We talk about the main differences between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini from their predecessors

Why is the iPhone 13 so good?

Customers love the iPhone for its great camera. The iPhone 13 has changed the location of the modules on the rear panel. Because they are now diagonal, you can easily distinguish the new model from the old one. Otherwise, the specifications remain the same: a 12-megapixel camera with a wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lens. iPhone 13 lenses have now been announced to absorb 46% more light than the iPhone 12.

The cameras in the new iPhone 13 are placed diagonally—now you will definitely recognize the novelty.

added the ability to blur the background or foreground when recording video-the “Cinema Effect” mode works when shooting in 1080p at 30 frames per second. And the iPhone 13 can shoot HDR video in Dolby Vision: shooting in 4K at 60 frames per second is available instead of 30 for the iPhone 12.

What the iPhone 13 looks like

There are practically no differences in the appearance of the iPhone 13 and

The new iPhone 13 outwardly and practically does not differ from the iPhone 12: the thickness and weight of the device have increased. The case has become thicker by 0.25 mm (7.65 mm), and the weight has increased by 11g to 173g due to a more powerful battery.

The color scheme of the new devices has been redesigned: now instead of a black iPhone, a “dark night” smartphone will appear, and a white one has turned into a “shining star”. Also, instead of a green iPhone, a pink one appeared—hello, glamor from 2008.

Display on the iPhone 13

The screen in the new iPhone 13 remains the same: a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels. The “bangs” that have become annoying to everyone with the Face ID module have changed: now they have become smaller in width but have increased in height. Is it good? You need to evaluate the smartphone.

The iPhone 13 display did not receive support for 120 Hz mode.

What we like the most: Apple said it increased the brightness of the display, going from 625 cd/m2 to 800 cd/m2. This means that, on a sunny day, you can make out what is on the smartphone screen. Unfortunately, the iPhone 13 was left without a 120Hz display—if you want a new feature, then buy the iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max.

Specifications for the iPhone 13

Apple has traditionally built a fresh chip into the latest iPhone 13: now it is the A15 Bionic, which is made using a 5-nanometer process technology. At the presentation, the company refused to compare it with the previous generation, making an attack on competitors: performance increased by 50%, and the graphics core became 30% more powerful. Perhaps this is enough.

The iPhone 13 just got more powerful!

The increased battery life also adds to the joy: now the iPhone 13 will last 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12. I think this is due not only to the increased battery life but also to the energy-efficient A15 Bionic.

By the way, the iPhone 13 introduced the ability to use two eSIM cards at once—the iPhone has never been as functional as it is today!

How iPhone 13 mini differs from iPhone 12 mini

Apple has not forgotten about the iPhone 13 mini either: it received the A15 Bionic, which has the same bright display as the iPhone 13. The dimensions remained practically unchanged: the iPhone 13 mini became heavier by 7 g (now 140 g) and thicker by 0.25 mm (7.65 mm). Most of all, potential buyers of the compact iPhone were waiting for an increase in the autonomy of the smartphone: Apple announced that now it would live 1.5 hours longer—this is a success!

The display remains the same, but the “bangs” have changed.

The color scheme of the iPhone 13 mini is fully consistent with the base iPhone 13. Unfortunately, a special color, which was purple, did not appear. We will wait for unusual solutions from Apple, which we will definitely tell you about in our Yandex.Zen.

How much does the iPhone 13 cost?

The iPhone 12 has fallen in price by as much as 15 thousand rubles.

Surprisingly, the prices for new items correspond to last year’s. This is surprising because the base memory has increased: in the new iPhones it is 128 GB. In addition, you can purchase smartphones with 256 GB and 512 GB, so especially memory-demanding readers of our Telegram chat can be satisfied.

  • iPhone 13 128 GB -79,990 rubles
  • 89,990 rubles for the iPhone 13 256 GB
  • 109,990 rubles for the iPhone 13 512 GB

Is it worth it to pay extra for a new smartphone? I think not, because there are not so many innovations, and the prices for the iPhone 12 have already fallen: the 64 GB model now costs 64,990 rubles. If you try, you can find a smartphone even cheaper.

A completely different matter is the purchase of the iPhone 13 mini. If before you did not know whether to buy a compact iPhone, now there should be no doubt.

  • 69,990 rubles for the iPhone 13 mini 128 GB
  • iPhone 13 mini 256 GB-79,990 rubles.
  • iPhone 13 mini 512 GB-99,990 rubles.

In addition, last year’s version of the iPhone 12 mini has noticeably fallen in price—now Apple’s recommended price for a model with 64 GB is 54,990 rubles. Perhaps, for a more acceptable price, it is worth looking at it.

Let me remind you that the pre-order for the iPhone 13 starts on September 22, and sales will begin on September 24. Are you ready to upgrade your smartphone?

longheads just for you

The iPhone 13 now has 128GB of storage by default. Is it a lot or a little? How much storage should an iPhone have? I tried to figure it out using my own experience.

Many do not like the iPhone 13 mini and it is in vain. We don’t give offense to our own: we figured out why the size is not the main thing, whether the iPhone 13 mini has enough power for games, how much better the battery in the smartphone has become, and why the iPhone 13 mini is the perfect smartphone for listening to music.

Smart home technologies are increasingly penetrating our lives every year. Almost all consumer electronics have smartphone integration. At the moment, Apple is in no hurry to occupy the market for smart home products, but things may change soon.

Vadim, Not only is it not critical, imperceptibly, it’s all simple when used anywhere except in situations sucked out of your finger, as shown in Apple videos. For 99% of tasks, processors starting with the iPhone 6s, 7 for the eyes.So only design and RAM for browser fans to open 100 tabs.

How is the iPhone 13 different from previous models?

We will tell you how the iPhone 13 differs from earlier models.

I heard that a new iPhone has come out. How is it different from previous models? How much can you buy it for and when?

On September 14, Apple introduced the iPhone 13 line. It includes four smartphones: the base model, the mini, as well as the Pro and Pro Max. In Russia, pre-orders will be available from September 22 and they will go on sale on September 24.

The main differences between this line are the new A15 Bionic processor, a more powerful battery, and a reduced screen notch. Other characteristics are specific to each model.

Basic and Mini: Aperture and Cinematic Effects

The iPhone 13 mini has a screen size of 5.4 inches, while the iPhone 13 has a 6.1-inch screen. Both smartphones have an updated camera system, the lenses of which are located diagonally in the block. The cameras are faster, thanks to which they better cope with night shooting and optical stabilization.

In the camera application, these models have a built-in “Cinema Effect”: when taking photos and videos, the smartphone focuses on the most important object, and when a new object appears in the frame, it automatically shifts focus to it.

Another innovation is that the camera intelligently selects photographic styles (presets) during shooting, trying not to spoil the frame and preserve important details.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini also have a smaller notch at the top of the screen, allowing more information to be displayed on the screen. In terms of battery life, unlike the iPhone 12 mini, the iPhone 13 mini lasts an hour and a half longer, while the base iPhone 13 lasts two and a half hours.

The cost of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini varies depending on the memory. The line is available in versions with 128, 256, and 512 GB of memory. A new iPhone 13 with a minimum amount of memory can be purchased for 79,990 rubles, and prices for the iPhone 13 mini start at 69,990 rubles.

“Proshki”: macro photography and terabytes of memory

The professional iPhone 13 models—Pro and Pro Max—have even more features. They have wider displays—6.1 and 6.7 inches.

When shooting video, these smartphones show more accurate color reproduction. Another camera on professional models allows you to shoot macro in all modes, including time-lapse and slow motion. Night shooting is also improved thanks to the larger aperture.

In addition to the standard and ultra wide-angle cameras, professional smartphone models are equipped with a 3x telezoom lens with support for optical image stabilization with a matrix shift.

In general, these models copy the functions and modes of younger models. But for the first time, modifications with a terabyte of memory and a more powerful “battery” appeared in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max: the developers promised that the Pro version would work one and a half hours longer, and the Pro Max – two and a half.

The cost of professional smartphones is predictably high: the iPhone 13 with 128 GB of memory will cost 99,990 rubles; the iPhone 13 Pro Max with 128 GB will cost 109,990 rubles.

All the differences between the iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max

This week, Apple held its main event of the year and showed a number of new products, including the latest iPhone 13 line. In this short article, we will help you quickly find out how the iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max differ from each other.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini

Let’s start with the differences between the basic version of the iPhone 13 and the slightly more affordable iPhone 13 mini. These two models, in terms of most characteristics, do not differ in anything, and the whole difference comes down to display diagonals, body dimensions, and battery capacity. In particular,

  • Display diagonal: iPhone 13 – 6.1 “, iPhone 13 mini – 5.4 “;
  • iPhone 13 – 90.2 cm2, iPhone 13 mini – 71.9 cm2 (GSMArena data);
  • iPhone 13-3095 mAh, iPhone 13 mini-2406 mAh battery capacity (ZDNet data);
  • Battery life: iPhone 13-up to 19 hours of video playback; iPhone 13 mini-up to 17 hours (hereinafter, official Apple data is used);

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini

  • iPhone 13—146.7 x 71.5 mm in height and width; iPhone 13 mini—131.5 x 64.2 mm in height and width;
  • iPhone 13 174g, iPhone 13 mini 141g

In all other respects, including cameras, the processor, and the quality characteristics of the display, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini should be completely identical. A slight difference, according to unconfirmed information, can only be hidden in the power of wireless charging: in the iPhone 13 mini, it is slightly less than the declared 15 watts and is 12 watts. There shouldn’t be any other difference.

By the way, several credible insiders declare at once that, unfortunately, Apple decided to tie it up with the mini line. We first saw it last year. Now we meet the iPhone 13 mini, but in 2022 there will be no new iPhone mini. Demand for the smallest-screened iPhone was much lower than expected.

Apple faced such a problem last year, releasing the iPhone 12 mini, while the company was not able to quickly rebuild its plans, and therefore, the release of the 13 mini still took place, despite the failure of the previous model. According to insiders, next year Apple is again preparing four different iPhones, but now these will be two versions with 6.1″ diagonals and two more with 6.7″ screens.

The price difference between the iPhone 13 and 13 mini has remained the same. Both models, among other things, will be available in pink, which was not available for the iPhone 12.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro

The price difference between the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro promises to be quite significant. And although the gadgets have the same screen size (6.1″) and dimensions, they have very serious differences in characteristics. Compared:

  • The iPhone 13 has an 800 nit screen, while the iPhone 13 Pro has a 1000 nit screen.
  • The iPhone 13 has a 60Hz refresh rate, while the iPhone 13 Pro has a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Processor: iPhone 13-A15 with four graphics units, iPhone 13 Pro-A15 with five graphics units.
  • RAM: iPhone 13-4 GB, iPhone 13 Pro-6 GB (according to other sources, 6 and 8 GB, respectively); exact information will appear after September 24;

This is how the line of current iPhones began to look after the presentation.

  • Main camera, aperture: iPhone 13-/1.6 (worse), iPhone 13 Pro-/1.5 (better);
  • main camera, pixel size: iPhone 13-1.7 microns (worse), iPhone 13 Pro-1.9 microns (better);
  • Ultra wide camera, aperture: iPhone 13-/2.4 (worse), iPhone 13 Pro-/1.8 (significantly better);
  • Only the iPhone 13 Pro has a telephoto camera.
  • 13 Pro only has a 3D camera (LiDAR).
  • Only the iPhone 13 Pro (3x) has optical zoom.
  • Only the 13 Pro can shoot photos in ProRAW format.
  • Only in 13 Pro can you shoot video in ProRes format.
  • Only in 13 Pro can you take photos and videos in macro mode.

The iPhone 13 Pro has a more advanced main and ultra-wide-angle camera compared to the regular iPhone 13. It also has a telephoto module and a LiDAR sensor, which are absent in the standard model.

  • Maximum storage capacity: iPhone 13-512 GB, iPhone 13 Pro-1 TB
  • iPhone 13 aluminum, iPhone 13 Pro stainless steel;
  • Battery life: iPhone 13-up to 19 hours of video playback; iPhone 13 Pro-up to 22 hours;
  • Weight: 173g for the iPhone 13 and 204g for the iPhone 13 Pro

Thus, the iPhone 13 Pro is better than the base iPhone 13 in terms of screen quality and numerous camera features. Also, the Pro version is slightly ahead of the base in terms of processor power and battery life. Let’s look at some points in a little more detail.

By far, the most noticeable difference with the iPhone 13 Pro is a screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz instead of 60Hz. This is important both for eye comfort and, in general, creates a very pleasant effect of smoothness and speed when viewing content. We only note that the frequency of 120 Hz will not be available in all applications and will sometimes be reduced to more modest values.

Screens with a frequency of 120 Hz are now available on many Android smartphones.However, not all of them have an OLED display with a brightness of 1000 nits (1200 peak), high resolution, and LTPO technology.

As for the A15 processor, the central cores (CPUs) of the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are the same. This means that in day-to-day work, the models will be almost identical. But the number of graphics cores is different: there are four in the basic version and five in the iPhone 13 Pro. This will primarily affect games. There, the Pro model will be able to deliver a higher frame rate (FPS).

There are a lot of differences in terms of cameras. The resolution of all modules once again remained the same—12 megapixels. However, completely new matrices and new optics are hidden behind the cameras. The main camera of the Pro version is better than the analog in the base model, both in terms of sensor size and light sensitivity of the optics.

Apple still sticks to 12-megapixel sensors for a reason: they are noticeably faster than their “multi-megapixel” counterparts and have advantages in image quality.

The ultra-wide-angle camera has made an even bigger leap in terms of optics and, according to Apple, is capable of capturing 90% more light.

Also, the ultra-wide-angle camera in the iPhone 13 Pro has a built-in PDAF autofocus mechanism, which is not found in the regular iPhone 13. Thanks to this autofocus, the Pro version can take high-quality photos and videos in macro mode (close-ups from ultra-close distances up to 2 cm, which even allows small details to look big).

Additionally, the iPhone 13 Pro has a telephoto camera and a LiDAR sensor, which the regular iPhone 13 does not have at all. LiDAR paves the way for advanced augmented reality effects, provides a night mode for portraits, and significantly accelerates focusing in low light.

So far, despite rumors, LiDAR is still limited to iPhone Pro models.

In turn, the telephoto camera provides portrait shooting and a triple optical zoom. The latter, unlike digital, occurs without a loss in picture quality.

Finally, the iPhone 13 Pro features ProRAW photo capture and ProRes video recording. Both formats are characterized by particularly high quality and wide possibilities for subsequent editing.

13 Pro and 13 Pro Max iPhones

Finally, let’s compare the most advanced versions of the iPhone 13—13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. There are few differences here, however:

  • Display diagonal: iPhone 13 Pro – 6.1 “; iPhone 13 Pro Max – 6.7 “;
  • iPhone 13 Pro-90.2 cm2, iPhone 13 Pro Max-109.8 cm2 (GSMArena data);
  • iPhone 13 Pro-3095 mAh, iPhone 13 Pro Max-4352 mAh battery capacity (ZDNet data);
  • Battery life: iPhone 13 Pro-up to 22 hours of video playback; iPhone 13 Pro Max-up to 28 hours;
  • iPhone 13 Pro-146.7 x 71.5 mm, iPhone 13 Pro Max-160.8 x 78.1 mm in height and width;
  • Weight: iPhone 13 Pro-204g, iPhone 13 Pro Max-204g

iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max

Last year, the 12 Pro Max model was very different from the iPhone 12 Pro in terms of camera capabilities. The Pro Max then had both a more advanced camera sensor and a new stabilization system (in the 13 line, by the way, all models already have them). Apple decided not to deprive the standard Pro version of the camera this year, instead making it as fancy as the 13 Pro Max.

As a result, there is no significant difference between Pro and Pro Max, except for quite obvious differences in screen sizes and dimensions. This time around, The two smartphones have exactly the same performance, display quality, camera range and specs, network connections, and everything else.

Sensor-shift stabilization technology was exclusive to the most expensive iPhone 12 Pro Max in the last generation (pictured). This year, it is included in every new iPhone 13 and iPad.

The advantages of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, however, include battery life. Apple claims that we have the longest-living iPhone from a single charge in the history of these smartphones.

Increasing the battery capacity led, however, to an unusually large weight of 240 g. The company is rumored to intend to solve this problem next year by transferring the Pro models of the future iPhone 14 to new titanium cases instead of the current steel ones. Titanium is noticeably different and many times lighter than steel. This could help keep the next iPhones bigger and lighter at the same time.

How the iPhone 13 is different from the iPhone 13 Pro—10 main differences

The iPhone 13 series, unveiled last week, seems to be almost identical to the iPhone 12 lineup. But that’s not a dig into the specs just yet. We have already told you how the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, as well as the iPhone 12 Pro, differ from the iPhone 13 Pro. Now let’s tell you what the difference between the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro is.

Yes, we can’t compare the iPhone 13 mini and the iPhone 13 Pro Max because these models are completely identical to the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro (only sizes and batteries differ).
