Troubleshoot no sound issues in Zoom on PC

If you have a problem with poor or no audibility of interlocutors in Zoom on a computer, the first step is to open the stereo mixer using the horn icon on the taskbar and increase the volume of the application. Also, in some cases, it may be necessary to change the standard audio output device.

Option 1: No incoming sound

Special attention must be paid to installing or reinstalling sound drivers, errors in the operation of which can lead to a complete lack of sound. Of course, this should only be done if there is no sound in all applications, and is not limited to Zoom alone.

If these recommendations were not enough, you need to open the list of installed applications and uninstall the program in question, followed by reinstallation. Be that as it may, all existing solutions have been discussed in detail earlier in other instructions on the site.

Option 2: Problems with the microphone

Incorrect operation of the sound output device is most often associated with an insufficiently high level of microphone sensitivity, which can be changed in the messenger settings. To do this, open the main “Settings” , go to the “Sound” tab and set a higher value using the “Volume” slider in the “Microphone” block .

If this was not enough, or if the microphone is not listed at all in the list of available devices, disabling restrictions from privacy settings or changing related settings may help. Also, we must not forget about turning on the microphone through the “Sound Control Panel” , as described in another instruction.

Only as a last resort, if none of the presented solutions helped, you can, again, completely reinstall the program. At the same time, do not forget about the diagnosis of individual components, whether it is the microphone itself or the speakers, as well as possible problems on the side of the interlocutors.
