Huawei HG8145V5 Default Password and Login (192.168.100.1)
By Madan Kc, ISP/GPON engineer at DG Link Network ยท Updated
Quick answer: Open http://192.168.100.1 in your browser while connected to the Huawei HG8145V5. Read the label on the back of the ONT first, because most ISPs set their own username and password. If the label has none, the common retail default is root / admin. If neither works, hold the Reset pinhole for about 10 seconds, but read the warning below first.
How to log in to the HG8145V5
The HG8145V5 is a GPON ONT with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, 2 phone ports, a USB port and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). It is the box that turns the fibre into your home network, so its settings page controls Wi-Fi, port forwarding and, on some ISPs, the internet login itself.
- Connect your phone or laptop to the ONT by Wi-Fi or with a LAN cable in any of the 4 yellow LAN ports.
- Open a browser and type 192.168.100.1 in the address bar (not in the search box).
- Enter the username and password from the label or the table below, then press Log In.
Some ISPs move the ONT to 192.168.18.1 or 192.168.1.1. If the first address does not load, check the label or try those two. Our 192.168.1.1 login guide covers that address in more detail.
Default login and where to find yours
| Order | Where it comes from | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sticker on the back or bottom of the ONT | Use the username and password printed there. This is the right one for most ISP-supplied units. |
| 2 | Retail or older firmware | Username root, password admin |
| 3 | Your ISP | Ask the ISP support line. Many ISPs keep a separate administrator account that they do not hand out, and you may only get a limited user login. |
Defaults vary by ISP and firmware version, so treat the table as a starting point, not a promise. I do not list ISP administrator accounts here: they are meant for the provider, and changing the wrong setting can take your line offline.
Change the Wi-Fi name and password
- Log in at 192.168.100.1.
- Open WLAN in the top menu.
- Choose 2.4G Basic Network Settings. Edit the SSID (the Wi-Fi name) and the WPA PreSharedKey (the password). Use WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 if offered, and at least 12 characters.
- Press Apply.
- Repeat under 5G Basic Network Settings for the 5 GHz network. Use a different SSID such as “Home-5G” so you can tell them apart.
Your devices will disconnect and must reconnect with the new password. To see who is on your network afterwards, use how to see who is connected to my Wi-Fi. Other ONT brands: Nokia G-140W-C, ZTE F670L, FiberHome HG6145.
Factory reset (and what it breaks)
- Find the small Reset hole on the ONT.
- With the power on, press and hold it with a pin or paperclip for about 10 seconds, until the lights flash and the ONT restarts.
- Wait a few minutes, then log in with the label details.
Can’t log in? Fixes in order
- Make sure you are connected to this ONT, not another router or a mobile hotspot.
- Type
http://192.168.100.1withhttp, nothttps. - Try 192.168.18.1 and 192.168.1.1.
- Use a LAN cable and turn off any VPN.
- Try a private window or another browser, then clear the cache.
- Read the label again: letters like O and 0 or l and I are easy to mix up.
- Ask your ISP for the credentials, then reset only as a last step.
If the ONT shows a red LOS light instead, the problem is the fibre, not the password: see ONT red LOS light: what it means and how to fix it.
