What is ‘Digital Democracy’ proposed by Ravi Lamichhane?

Kathmandu, Ravi Lamichhane has announced a new political party. Speaking at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Lamichhane announced a party called the “Rashtriya Swatantra Party”.

He has presented some plans for the party along with the information to register the party with the Election Commission. Among them, he has included “digital democracy” in the main concept of the party.

What is “Digital Democracy”? Based on international studies, it is a democracy based on information and technology.

Since “electronic” and “democracy” are made up of two different words, it seems to be popularly known as “e-democracy”. It is also known as “Digital Democracy” and “Internet Democracy”.

This concept seems to have evolved in the 21st century, with the main objective of using information and communication technology (ICT) in politics and governance.

This concept holds that democracy should be promoted using information technology. The technology also includes the concept of “civil technology” to connect the common man and “government technology” to show the system of government.

More importantly, it recognizes that the entire young population is qualified to legislate in the country. It also emphasizes equal participation of all in social, economic, and cultural activities.
