Adding ONT on Huawei OLT ( Support all Huawei OLT )

Adding an ONT on a Huawei OLT follows the same core commands across the whole SmartAX family — MA5600T, MA5608T, MA5680T, MA5683T, and MA5800. This is a short, general version of the process: find the new ONT, register it with its serial number, bind it to a service-port, and save. Before you start

  • The OLT already has the ONT’s line profile and service profile created (referenced here as ID 204).

  • All red values below are examples — replace them with your own serial number, profile IDs, VLAN, and port numbers.

How to add an ONT on any Huawei OLT, step by step

  1. Step 1 – Connect and enter configuration mode

    Connect via Telnet or console, log in, then run:

    enable
config

  2. Step 2 – Find the new ONT

    display ont autofind all

  3. Step 3 – Enter the GPON interface

    interface gpon 0/5

  4. Step 4 – Add the ONT

    Register it using its serial number and existing line/service profiles:

    ont add 4 sn-auth ************* omci ont-lineprofile-id 204 ont-srvprofile-id 204 desc madankc

  5. Step 5 – Exit the GPON interface

    quit

  6. Step 6 – Find the next free service-port number

    display service-port next-free-index

  7. Step 7 – Add the service-port

  8. Step 8 – Save the configuration

Does this method work on every Huawei OLT model?

Yes, the core commands (display ont autofind, ont add, service-port) are shared across MA5600T, MA5608T, MA5680T, MA5683T, and MA5800. Slot and port numbering can differ by chassis, so adjust the frame/slot/port values to match your hardware.

What does display service-port next-free-index do?

It shows the next unused service-port number on the OLT, so you don’t have to guess one or collide with an existing entry.

What happens if I forget to run save?

The ONT and service-port stay in the running configuration only. If the OLT reboots or loses power before you save, the new ONT is lost and needs to be re-added.

Do the ont-lineprofile-id and ont-srvprofile-id need to already exist?

Yes. The ont add command references existing profiles by ID, and it fails if those profiles haven’t been created yet.
